The Workers Will Not Be Fooled!

 On three occasions during the month of July 2010, the Sarkozy-Fillon government took or announced legislative measures aimed at finding scapegoats for its policies.

- In early July, with the Law on the Burqa, the State, under the guise of misleading references to

secularism and the rights of women, intervened in a domain that it is not its purview -- that of the private life of its citizens. This law is clearly intended to ostracize a segment of the population. It aims to encourage communalism and to foster communal tensions.

Repeal SB 1070 in Arizona!

The reality is that the Obama administration and the Democratic Party have not resolved the crisis for undocumented workers in this country. Our families are being deported and now we face unprecedented institutional racism in Arizona. But these attacks are not only the fault of the Republicans and a minority of racists in Arizona. SB 1070 has been made possible because the Democrats have failed to promote and pass an amnesty law that would give papers to all.

One Year After the Tragic Death of María Isabel Vasquez Jimenez

This coming May 14 marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic death in Lodi, California, of farmworker Maria Isabel Vasquez Jimenez, an undocumented 17-year-old girl from the state of Oaxaca. Maria, who was pregnant at the time of her death, was determined to have died from working in the fields in extreme heat conditions.
