This year - as we are faced with unprecedented
international economic and political crises, cuts in spending for
education, militarization and criminalization of our youth, and growing
job insecurity - International Women's Day takes on even more
significance. The history of International Women's Day - and history
itself - reveals that far from being passive onlookers throughout
history, we, working-class women, have played key roles in the
political struggles of our communities.
