We understand that the ISO has a large number of non-white members,
that it campaigns against the death penalty and for immigrants'
rights, and that it carries out much other important anti-racist

our commitment to a respectful and calm discussion on these and other

The computer and the Internet have changed the way in which production
is organized, not the capitalist mode of production. Computers and the
Internet are not saving capitalism from debacle, as it is shown

The challenge to the labor movement is immense.
Unfortunately, none of the leaders of the labor movement replied to
Summers for his anti-union statement in the ad published in The New
York Times. Nor did any union leader challenge Obama for raising the

True to form, some on the right now decry Obama's
stimulus package as nothing less than the triumph of socialism in
America. “Lenin and Stalin would love this stuff,” former Arkansas
Governor Mike Huckabee told a recent meeting of the Conservative
Political Action Conference. Not that the huckster Huckabee has any
serious ideas about how to solve the run of mortgage foreclosures or
rising unemployment. Or, for that matter, the crisis of capitalism
itself.

In the city of Berkeley, International Workers Day was,
first and foremost, a day of protest against the ongoing I.C.E. raids
and deportations but wasn‘t circumscribed to it.

The May 9 Teach-In
to "Bail Out Working People -- NOT the Banks!" was a big
success. The turnout was significant -- a total of 322 participated
throughout the course of the afternoon. Most important the
presentations and the discussion from the floor dealt with the
fundamental challenges to the labor movement and its community allies
in this new situation of deepening economic crisis.
